Me and this game go way back to the warcraft 3 days. But even then, I hated the hell out of it. I was not very good at it, and everyone else skyrocketed to like level 25, meanwhile my ass was still at 14, barely trying to get 15. So then, someone hands me a dota 2 beta key (a buddy) and what happens? Same GDMFSFASFGD thing. Yeah, I suck at this game, hard core. But for some freakishly strange reason I like it. Don't ask me why...
Does anyone else play this? Maybe we could uh, like, pair up or something and watch me suck. So far, I seem to be good with the tinker and the ... phantom... assassin...? The purple chick.
Before anyone asks, no, I don't know what a nuker or carrier is, so don't ask me what roles I'm good at. I tried the uh... abomination guy... and sucked with him, thinkin "WELL HES GOT A LOT OF HEALTH MAYBE ILL LIVE LONGER" nope! Come to find out ranged guys kick his ass.
althought it's pretty cool of valve to keep that warcraft feel to it. Surprised me to find an avatar of vengeance and a queen of pain or mistress of torment or something...

Or you could play League of Legends.

I actually don't like MOBAs. I only played dota 2 for the nostalgia, ykno?
But you know thanks for that insightful post.

That seemed a bit sarcastic. But, McKnighter does have a point on one thing, in that League of Legends is a better game for learning the MOBA ropes. LoL typically has a better tutorial and PvE/Bots mode than other MOBAs, and the community is, as a rule, a little bit gentler with noobs than DOTA or Heroes of Newerth are, typically. League also tends to make things more streamlined in general, with things like free recalls back to base and the like. If you want to learn the genre, it's probably the best place to start, and we have a number of CotHers that play League that are willing to help new players.
I can't say I'm a fan of DOTA2, but good luck if you keep sticking with it!
Have you hugged an orc today?

I don't really play DotA2, mainly 'cause I've no one to play with! If I remember correctly, my Steam ID is Kira13f; try it out.

I haven't played DOTA2 in forever, but I remember the community pretty much expects you to know how to play well. If I had to force you to do something, it'd be to play a little League of Legends, but if you're digging in for the Warcraft nostalgia, you can play DOTA2 and not get like, completely shut out by everyone. Just remember, no matter what people say to you in game, just keep on playing. Any MOBA community can be rough, but the only way to get better is to keep playing.

I tried it once, but I didn't fall for it. Prefer LoL personally. But if anybody wants a DOTA2 key, I have 13 of them. And if you're seeing this, Valve, please stop sending me DOTA2 keys. I'm -begging- you.
