Chat is -not- the new Barrens.

Chat: The following is allowable in Chat:

1. Discussions about RP that may or may not be going on presently.
2. Discussions about lore.
3. Discussions about the server and game mechanics.
4. Discussions about one's real life, provided it is relatively brief.
5. Greetings and goodbyes (Hello server! Hello UnnamedNewbie!)

Discussions about lore CAN go into Chat. But if they're the kind of discussions that can go on for 15 minutes and have potential to disturb RP, they should really go to Barrens, or even the forums.

I'm not saying Quest and lore related questions doesn't fit in Chat. I'm saying long wall-of-text discussions should be taken somewhere else, as it is very disturbing at times.

Yes, but there is something different between discussing the mechanics of a quest, and saying something along the lines of "Gee, why does farmer Mcnabb need rooster eggs? WHAT DOES HE DO WITH 'EM?". Which is something I see, a lot lately.

According to the rules, they do go in Chat.

Lore DOES go in chat. However, if it becomes a long, extended discussion, and it's asked that you take it to the forums, it's best to do so.

Say one person knows something the rest are fuzzy on, and their discussing comes to the wrong conclusion because of all the fuzziness. If they had done it in the forums, said one person could have tossed in their two cents and kept the discussion on the right track.

Now that've got the Chat channel covered, how about the Region Channel? Any specfic rules for that? I'm going to assume it's along the lines of Chat.

It's auto-join too so maybe I'm wrong, but then again you can /leave it too. :?

On the other hand though, I've never seen anyone RP in /chat, or discuss RP either. (They do that in LFG)
I fully support keeping silly, stupid memes in barrens. But no matter which chat all the "XD lol randumb" stuff goes in, it's still spam that fills up the screen. And lets face it, if you have to disable a chat to RP something is wrong. And moving walls of text from chat to barrens doesn't really do anything but make the text another color (for those who color their chats)

All the chat seems to be currently used for is greetings. Which 9 out of 10 times becomes silly and lengthy within three responses before someone comes along and says "take it to barrens, you're disturbing my RP!" as I said, barrens is barrens, but if you have to send people there shut the channel off, there's something utterly wrong.

If the Chat's not used to anything grave, why the RPers won't just leave it?
I mean, I leave the Chat if I RP. 'Cause saying "Barrens, Barrens, Barrens!"
Won't help, it'll just start again in 5 minutes.
