Okay, I'm all patched up to 3.0.9 (9551) - patches obtained from the link on the last part of the "Create a Server Account" process - but when I try to log in, this happy little message accosts me:
"Your account is authorized for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, but the computer you are playing on does not contain WotLK data. To play on this machine with this account you must install WotLK."
I tried looking for an existing thread with info to help me, but no one seems to have encountered this exact problem before... anyone know what I can do to get around this?

The problem is most likely that you have Burning Crusade patched to 3.0.9 and Kretol needs to set your account as BC, or you need to download WotLK.

I'm not sure but I think you have to pay for an authorised account to actually download it from there. I have a link to the WotLK Client, its the one I used.

Sorry to bring back a dead topic, but I'm having this same problem. I can play on the normal server, but when I try and connect to CotH, it gives me that message. I have the WotLK load screens and intro and such, but it still dosent let me play, anyone wanna help me out?

As stated just above, you need to either download WotLK data, or have your account set to BC. You can either use the download provided above or check the Downloads section for a universal client downloader, if you want to go through the download method.

Hurmm... I had this problem, downloading that whatamagigit thingamajig... The... *Checks his damn downloads again* World_Of_Warcraft_Wotlk_Client.rar, That's it! Was on the tip of my tongue, swear.
The problem is we've got about 300MBs of downloads left, so i'll have to leave the download for two days. Therefore, no Conquest of the Horde for mister Maulbane for two days!
One question: What do you think is smaller, the universal client, or the one i'm recieving from Gamershell?

It depends more on your connection than anything else. I downloaded my WotLK via utorrent, as in peer 2 peer. I would personally take my chance with the gamershell link first and foremost though. Either way you'll be in for a wait.

I´m having the same problem but i´m really in no rush to download the last expansion. Would it be possible to have my account changed, or is it really obligatory to download Wrath of the Lich King?

Changed your account to BC.
Also, locking this thread as it really doesn't warrant further replies. Anyone who later needs a bump down to BC can send a PM.
