I can agree with Xigo's statement. Mostly because frankly, I forgot the ratings. Here in Norway? We don't have 21+, that is 18+. I'll have to apologize if I made a few remarks that seemed unfounded. That 21+ rating is what I'd be most definitely against introducing to the server.

If the escort doesn't even get involved with ERP (and there's no hints that they do in rp) then how would it even be comparable to rping a prostitute? I'm just curious. I had the impression that escorts aren't explicitly for sex?

I think the concern is it being branded as a prostitute character despite not engaging in sexual roleplay if the rules' phrasing were changed to 'prostitutes, escorts and similar characters are not allowed' or something.

The geisha/prostitute mixup has been there since WWII when prostitutes mimicked geisha to lure in American troops. So there's no telling who would cry "prostitute" when one says they play a geisha.

I think one thing people are forgetting that it is perfectly possible to have explicit sexual stuff in their RPs without actually eRPing. Fading to black is basically god's gift to people who value sources of character development equally, but don't want to resort to extraneous, pointless descriptions of his doink. Seems like the largest area of debate here isn't the existence of this content, it's the visceral depictions of it which are both in poor taste for the younglets and also providing of nothin' to the actual character.

But yeah, that's sort of what I was trying to say earlier on in the topic but much less clear. Hooker does -not- mean "escort" all the time. Hookers tend to spell out sex, heh.

I figure the escort rule would fall more under the rule of "no character made for sex." With prostitutes that's very clear, that's what their profession is. But if someone roles and escort and it doesn't seem to be made for sex then that would be allowed, right?

I'm still wondering about the relevancy of geishas since I can't think of a lot of people who would look at one and think, "That's totally a hooker."

What's wrong with that? See, it's more alluded to rather than outright "I get payed for sex!".

Nothing wrong with a bit of word play, and allusion rather than outright saying prostitute. It leaves what your character means up for debate, because when you specifically say prostitute you automatically associate that with something else.
