Ah, money, music to my ears.
What better way to consistently utilize the IC currency then to promote the professions we take for granted? Need some clothing? .addrpitem . Need some weapons? .addrpitem . How about a romantic dinner for two? .addrp--- Oh, wait, sorry, head to your nearest NPC innkeeper or baker! I know some of us take up professions OOCly out of boredom or curiosity, but many of our characters have these jobs themselves.
Promoting the use of IC professions and IC currency is promoting roleplay on multiple levels. Customers need tradesmen, tradesmen need suppliers; people have to eat (or drink, or sleep!); some people need to get from Point A to Point B -- the possibilities are as unlimited as your creativity. Are you a blacksmith looking for an apprentice? You're in luck! This Standard Orc is looking to make some money to support his family! Did your characters get off on the wrong foot? Perhaps they will seek out Friendly New Ore'n'Stone Prospect versus Unfriendly Overpriced Son-of-a-motherless-ogre-who-can't-tell-a-diamond-from-a-rock Vendor...unless said Prospect is offline and they need the supplies stat!
But, Caravan, there's just... so many coins! What does it all mean? How do I know what's what?! Shut up and take my money!
Why, I am glad you asked, honey! It is important to note that IC money is not the same as IG money and though I would love to shut up and take all of your money, may I suggest looking at Anski's Guide to Copper, Silver and Gold or this (possibly inflated) Currency Analysis.
