First off,
Welcome to CotH!
Well there's a couple of ways;
- In-game, just use the LookingForGroup channel and ask if anyone wants to RP, which is probably the fastest way to do it.
- Another way is in each of the starter areas, cities, and other places are portals. If you "talk" to one of these, click 'Neutral Hubs > OOC Cavern.' A lot people come here to chat and get to know each other as well as pick up items for RP! Just ask someone here if they want to roleplay, and most of the time they would.
- Join an event! People are hosting events all the time, which are flexible enough that your character would fit in nicely.
- You could also make an event, although I'd recommend you get comfortable with everything first!
The Wiki holds pretty much the answer to every other question you might have.

Heh, I am glad you asked all the same, otherwise I would have asked the same thing. Azeroth is a huge place, and finding the RP isn't always easy if people enjoy stuff away from the main cities. I can't wait to get into it myself.

Just ask around in the LookingForGroup channel or the OOC Cavern, as Talal suggested.
I would also suggest you join the /chat and /barrens channels to get in touch with the rest of the online community, as most players are in that channel regardless of faction and whatnot.

I, personally like to use the player map, which is available here:

Speaking of which, this is the first time I have ever not seen Blood Elves in Silvermoon. Odd.
