I make characters with an already given orientation, and then let others decide if they would like to join. I do not force it upon anyone, as well as the fact I don't do it for the sake of having a "hawt lesbi/bi" relationship... I do it because I honestly feel more comfortable and at ease RPing a character that connects to me.
P.S. If you don't get what I meant you can PM me for an explanation to the last line
It's not really that the orientation bothers anyone, rather the way they're portrayed.
As in, if someone was to create a gay character with a lisp and a pink shirt or whatnot. That's a stereotype (and indeed, a particularly more offensive one), and it isn't one I'd like to see either.

Quote:gay [gey] Show IPA adjective, -er, -est, noun, adverb
adjective
1.
having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music.
2.
bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments.
3.
given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season.
4.
licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies.
Gay is not a bad word. I will not cease to stop all conversation to tell someone that gay means happy.
I'm... Afraid I don't follow you, on this part.
Are you saying people shouldn't participate in such relationships serverside because the original meaning of the word Gay is, "happy?" To describe homosexual relationships as gay relationships doesn't necessarily mean we're making gay into a bad word... Or am I not following properly?
Would you rather we use homosexual? That's so formal... Bleh. I'd prefer to use the words gay and lesbian, personally.
I dunno. Personally, I describe myself and a number of my characters as romantically indiscriminate. But that's just 'cause it's fun to say and type out.
I think he's trying to sound smart.
Too bad he left off the last bit of the dictionary definition.

I'm not trying to sound smart, Binkleheimer, I'm merely listing the book definition of what the word has been for years. I understand I left off homosexual off of the definition, but I have my reasons. It's listed as #5 on the 5 ways to use gay. Notice it's the last, it's the least common/used word as far as I understand the way the dictionary works.
Also, I'm not saying it's wrong and I don't agree with it, I can go into the Bible rant about it, but I'm sure to get in some form of trouble. People do what they like, I just don't understand the full reason of it. You can't reproduce. I don't do it myself, but I'm just rambling, it's early in the morning, I haven't eaten yet, I don't have the absolute clearest head, ATM.
EDIT: Kira, you suck, got in JUST before me.

Uh. It is probably the most used definition of the word in recent years. And when I say recent years, I mean this century.
Anyways, back on topic.

Listen to how children and high-school students use the word. We know it has different implications and context. Anyways, I'm just glad we sort of came to an understanding on the whole stereotyping situation. I think gender stereotypes probably come up the most on CotH.

Actually, that means it's the newest.
And when was the last time you heard it used to mean happy IRL?

I can attest to this. You know, the whole lesbianism thing really mimics what happens in my 9th grade circle. >>

The Flintstones, and a couple of songs.
But that's about it.

The term for conveying a sense of good joy amongst people for the use of "gay" is incredibly archaic and any arguments used for such a forthright have almost always been a crude attempt to hide a crude joke that's oft offensive. If you don't like it, don't look at it. Any and all OOC anti-homosexuality engagements against someone will be dealt with in a high form of punishment.

That isn't the point of the intended discussion whatsoever.
Though I may have misunderstood your post. Either way.

Please don't lock my thread because of the off-topic-ness.
Seriously though, I didn't know where this argument over the word came from. It baffles me.
