Another question on ressurection.

Hopefully this hasn't been asked already. If it has then it's my bad. :P

I know that ressurection is only possible if the person being rezzed actually wants to come back to life, which is why people who commited suicide can't be brought back. But is it possible to forcefully ressurect someone? Not like "hurray you're back!" type of thing but sort of like what necromancers do. Except in this case the person being brought back would have access to skills that he had in life.


e.g Bob forcefully brings back his dead friend Joe. Joe retains his skills but is completely bound to Bob's will.



Would this be possible or not?

Uh... no. That's probably Necromancer only. Also, the person being resurrected can decline a resurrection.

I really, really doubt it. Besides not being supported by lore, this idea carries a lot of other implications.

I see where you both are coming from and I understand. Just out of curiousity, what implications did you have in mind Etmosril?

First of all, this would completely invalidate the idea of having Necromancers. If you can be a normal priest/paladin and mind-bend resurrected people to your will without having to deal with the fact they're undead or have lost their abilities, that's already a better deal than Necromancers get. And it makes those two professions far more sinister. Who, besides a Shadow priest, would do that? If it was possible, why the fel would priests and paladins teach it to their underlings?

(Insert joke about brainwashing one's congregation here.)

Another is what it means for people to do this. You wouldn't have to worry about Scourge when the other 'zombies' are incognito and more dangerous. I'd say the closest you'll be able to get is mind-controlling a live person with a priest character (consent required, of course.)

I wasn't implying that -anyone- could do it. It was just a random question out of curiousity. And to Aphetoros, would the minion be able to keep his skills from his life before he was killed and raised though?

What you describe is to raise someone as an undead minion, not a ressurection.

Well, it's not pointless. If they're smarter, that's more that minion can do. Of course.. There's many risks when they have more freedom than normal...

... No. Not to the degree of Necromancy that most Necromancers on the server are using. From my understanding, we are programming the bodies ourselves with knowledge that the character knows. That's why Redis' adorageist, Lilian, basically just flails her saronite claws at enemies. Reason being, Redis doesn't know much about melee combat.


So, my answer is no. Unless a Necromancer got himself some uber secret Scourge tome regarding it from Scholomancer itself, no.
