General Prestige Discussion
#31
I am very new here, but I'll throw in my 2 cents from someone who hasn't seen any prestiges.

In my mind certain things shouldn't "be" prestiges, if someone wants to be a gladiator, then he should roleplay in lots of arena fights and work on shouting to the crowd and such. Things that make sense to me being prestiges are for characters that have a great RP power/influence over things. A king, a pirate CAPTAIN (really anyone can try to be a pirate), an archmage in charge of something.

prestiges should be able to grant rp enhancements like being in charge of a larger group/organization. Powers over more abstract things, such as druids having powers over animals and plants. etc.

How should prestiges factor into combat? not with "bonus to roll" but what about just the idea that they are harder to kill. Many a hero can be "defeated" in combat but heroes of prestige power seem to have a knack for not dieing. These prestiges should be granted to plyers with characters that are roleplaying towards that, if you have interest in trying to be something, talk to a GM about what your idea is, maybe we don't need pre-defined prestiges of different tiers, but maybe just a GM review on how much a player needs for his prestige idea. I.E. the archmage of dalaran is a huge deal, while a gladiator in a arena has different requirements, not one is "better" than the other but one takes more to get to.
