What's this about a 'Restart'? (AKA "Topic of Interest")

I suppose it would be a good time to start fresh with all-new characters, then. I only really have two or three of my current characters which I just couldn't live without.

What does sadden me, however, is that I have a character who is an avid collector of all things big and small, and I've found some amazing things over the years I'd be sad to lose (as far as sentimental value is concerned, they're irreplaceable). Like the compass that always points east, a see-through hood which doesn't appear on wowhead and tons of other knick-nacks like the 2nd ring and the 5th ring which I've found while fishing and talking on the chat late at night. I mean, it's an entire bank vault full of clothes, items and all the things I've collected through RP, exploring or just running around headless like a chicken kicking monster butt.

The items can be replaced, and the character reconstructed, but it'll never be completely the same. *Mournful, over-dramatic sigh*.

I'm at least hoping to get some Night Elf stuff done before the restart, but I can fairly easily begin anew since everything but levels are in my GHI stash and the DM's notes I have ready. Otherwise, you might see a change in some familiar faces (Kaghuros won't need any profile rewriting, but he'll be much different in appearance and attitude) and the return of other long-lost characters isn't out of the question.

I'm not really updated in WoW lore, and how to fix my character to fit it, durhur. :B

Annoying how the reset is likely to happen whislt im on holdiay...would of rathered I was here for when it happened (Less it is happening late july) so I hope alot of information is given soon on what to do and the rest.

Meh, I'm going on holiday anyways, I guess it would be nice to be forced to start from scratch. This way I have enough free character slots to make new, more interesting charactrs to play with.

Personally, I don't really want the restart to happen. :P But, I do suppose that if it restarts, I can remake a few of my characters, because, unlike some people, I've only been part of CotH a few months or so.

On a more serious note: I think it's a grand idea, and currently waiting for it. My view since last time changed, time to get rid of the old and re-roll horde. Harr.. Though I might bring Arlaina (Ellyn) back to the way I submitted her profile, get rid of all the other crap. The rest can be deleted as far as I'm concerned.

Though.. I'm wondering the relevance on this topic, seeing the lasts posts where made in "May" till Azheron followed by Kretol bumped it a while ago. Is the stuff in the first post still relevant as it is going to be and how it's planned? May 12 and June 30 is some time to change thoughts and intentions. Might as well double check then to be clueless. *nod*

I personally am reasonably annoyed by the restart.
Firstly because I have only been apart of this server for less than a month, (therefore not having gruntship) And I have pretty much dedicated my life to it. I love this server and it is by far the best private server I've ever been on, and I've been on hundreds. All of which means I have been working for hours on end on my characters. I am very active in-game and in the forums, I have been levelling a bit, been involved in lots of RP and spent hours reading server lore and stuff. And I'm going to loose it all and have to go through what seems a lot of hassle just to get -some- of my items back. (ones which will be available from the OOC area anyway.) Things Like professions people may say are un-important ICly but the whole reason I took up my professions was to create IC gear. And to do that, I need money, which is earned by grinding, which makes the grinding gear important in the long run. (Because a level 40 can make as much money as a level 10 can in a month, in about a day.)
Secondly because things will be lost like guilds, friend list, character names etc. And having -just- got used to the server, it antics and places and how it works, I'll have to scrap all that and start again.
Not to mention the simple fact that everything is getting wiped, alone that seems bad. And the tiny tiny errors that the server has at the moment are insignificant.

I reckon it's a good idea. For some it can be a fresh start on their old characters, yes it'll be a pain posting in old profiles and waiting for them to be approved, even though they already were. But in the long run, it'll be fun to start fresh. It's gonna happen at some point. And since no one can really stop it. Just look at the bright side.

I am all for a nice restart.
As much as I hate losing what I've created with my characters,
this will allow for new story lines to blossom.

My only request is to keep Aubreigh.

Note that the restart is solely to prepare for Cataclysm. No matter what happens, we can't keep the database information when we upgrade expansion. As far as I'm aware, there's no way of doing it - or if there is, it's too complex. Otherwise Kretol would've done it with the previous expansion. :>

Either way, whether we do the restart now or when Cata comes out, it won't make a difference. We'll still lose everything, heh.
