Wanted to know if I actually can recieve PMs or not due to this. It might be a bug in the system, but if I can't then that'd be pretty upsetting.

This has come up in the shout box today. It seems as if multiple people are having this problem because of an attempt to flood the forums or something. I don't have any details on that, however. <.<

I've got an invisible message as well. However, I've been able to send and receive mail just fine. I have a sneaky suspicion that something may have been sent out to a lot of people and then was somehow blocked -- perhaps by having the originator blocked as well.

That was a result of Lethys PMing a slew of random people with a copy of his... er... farewell post. When running a few database queries to clear all but the one in Absences (he had also gone back and edited about... 80-90 of his replies to other threads with the exact same thing as well), the PMs were also deleted, but it seems the 'count' of them wasn't.
Is it still saying you have that new message?

Basically, Lethy's and Lucia or whoever tried to spam the living piss out of the forums, and people's inboxes. The way they were "banned" deleted their posts, and subsequently their PMs to people as well.
You could probably imagine what the message contained though.

I just got that but by email. The email came up saying I'd received a new message, but then I logged in not to see one. How odd. It's probably an attempted second wave of some sort, or a glitch, not to worry!
Edit: It's a glitch! Got the same email twice. Probably some technical dificulty like a server going down and rebooting along the way at some awkward time. How strange!
