Need help patching/installing

Hello, I haven't yet made an introduction, but will do so as soon as I've sorted installing the game out..
Anyways, its been a very long time since I've played a WoW private server and need a little help installing the game..
Right, so the server is at 4.3.4a, I've installed WoW off my cata disc so its up to date on 4.0.0; simple. Now if I was to manually patch up until 4.3.4a, how would I access the client without it manually patching up to 5.? The Wow.exe in my WoW folder doesn't work, everytime I try and open it, an error comes up, and everytime I use the launcher it automatically patches. Any help here?
Also, do I let the updater tools download and the files reconfigure, or just manually patch straight from installation and do nothing else?
I reeeaally don't want to download a fresh client straight to 4.3.4 as I have an absurdly slow internet... Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Kretol already posted about it here. You will click one of the links there and download a torrent file from dropbox.

Then you will need a program like this. To activate the torrent file and to download its contents.
It is best you download it seperately from the torrent to prevent searching for patches and the like. The torrent file will give you cataclysm as a whole, preinstalled I believe and if I'm wrong you'll just need to extract it from the archives. It will also give you the right version.

You can find pages with loose patches fairly easy if you google it. Then you just install them all in order. The client is trying to patch because I'm guessing your realmlist is still the retail one. Change the realmlist to coth's and it should stop forcing a patch. The EXE won't work still since you're a few patches below, but the launcher won't take things into its own hands, so to speak.

I just think it's less hassle to get it whole instead of using CDs, patching and so on.

I agree, but if his internet is excruciatingly slow, I can understand. Especially since the torrent doesn't have an overabundance of seeders.

I see.. thanks for the response.. I suppose I'll have to bare with torrenting it! (ETA 5 days, see you guys then, aha..) So with the torrented client, I'm assuming it won't automatically patch up?

Ooh, I understand, changing the realmlist will stop the automatic updates, got'cha, thanks for the feedback and assistance.
