The Gryphon Ball Tournament
History
Gryphon Ball has been a long-standing tradition within the Runebraid Clan. Previously, it was held only for the clan and the clan only, a legacy which they held for upwards of 50 years. However, with recent events, they have decided to allow it to all Alliance members this year.
All people who wish to compete must own a Gryphon, Broom or Hippogryph. There are 4 Gryphons that random people will be allowed to ride per match. Or, someone who wants to play can ask a Wildhammer if the non-Wildhammer can use the Wildhammer's Gryphon for the game. Otherwise, they get to watch.
Rules of the Game - IC
The rules of the game are very simple. You need a Gryphon to play, and you get no weapons, nor can you tackle someone off their Gryphon, or have your Gryphons crash. The first team to get to 100 points wins. There are two ways to do this. Either you get 10 goals by getting the Quail ball through the goal, or catching the Witch ball.
There are multiple defenses against both of these. One of these is just intercepting a pass. The most prominent of these in the Bludgeon Ball. The Bludgeon ball, is, in short, a heat seeking ball. However, this ball does not discriminate. Whoever it's shot nearest to, it will go after, friend or foe.
There are two teams. There are four different positions in Gryphon Ball. The Chaser, the Shooter, the Fighter and the Goalie. The Chaser is the person who goes after the Witch Ball. There is only one of these per team. The shooter is the person who tries to get the Quail Ball through the goal. There are two per team. The Fighter is the person who tries to stop the opposing teams Chaser or Shooter from achieving their goal, through the Bludgeon Ball. There is one per team. Then, the Goalie is the person who stops the Shooter from scoring by blocking their shots. There is one per team.
Also, there are three different balls. The Quail Ball, the Bludgeon Ball, and the Witch Ball. The Quail Ball is a small, light ball. It has no charm to keep it up, so strong throws will be needed with it. The Bludgeon ball has a charm of self-flight and a seek-heating enchantment, making it quite deadly, so you'd best watch out. The Witch Ball is the smallest, quickest ball of them all. The ball is puppeted by one Reonimeh Theraslyn, who is responsible for all enchantments and malfunctions during this event*. So, the seeker will have quite the fun.
*Not really. Any injuries are the fault of all considered parties, other then the Runebraids and/or Ms. Theraslyn.
Rules of the Game - OOC.
- Respect, of course. I will be judging who's closer to it, and all of the such, so respect me! D:<
- I will not, and I repeat NOT, let you pull your character owning a Gryphon/Broom/Hippogryph theoretically out of your backside. You need to have it previously documented in an IC post, or your character profile, or it will not be allowed.
- All Runebraids get a +5 to all rolls during this event, due to previous experience within the game.
- Other regular stuff.
General OOC info
The official kick-off event will be next Sunday, at Noon Server time. There will be Gryphon Rides for the kids, as well as the first game -- Runebraids v Non-Runebraids. Ms. Theraslyn will be allowing someone to use her broom to even up the odds.
