Ok, so the Dark Portal. For 2+ years, soon to be three, we've been fighting at the same place. Maybe we should have a server event to push the Demons back, or be pushed back ourselves.

Heck, there's still lowbie undead roaming the Dead Scar some, what, seven years after Arthas struck Quel'Thelas? There's Defias still plaguing Northshire. The Gnomes aren't making any progress with Gnomeregan. This similar lack of progress over time is evident all over Azeroth.
As far as I know, we're holding back on server-changing events because Cataclysm is just around the corner anyway.

Yeah, but why stop the fun? Roleplaying is fun. Roleplaying is roleplaying kicking demon butt. Roleplaying should be free, and stuff. This sort of event wouldn't even be hard to conduct.
"Good roleplaying is not equivalent to saying that your character is not interested or molded for a certain situation.
Quite the contrary - good roleplaying is making up a reason for your character to do that thing, no matter the obstacles!"

I'm all for shaping the world as according to OUR characters actions, but that involves diverging from Blizz-lore. I'd much rather that on our server, players can shape the world with their deeds, rather than being restricted to roles that never influence the world while lore-characters carry on as per Blizzards design. Clever GM's could integrate the two, I'm sure, to prevent -total- separation from Blizzard lore.
Still, as far as I'm aware, Kretol is holding back on as much custom world-changing as he can because it's all changing again come Cata. Roleplay will only end up being retconned otherwise.
