-lesomely seeking GM in the interest of the server. Whew!
I am obviously not as clever as the other GMs here.
SO. The holidays are coming up, and for the lot of us, that means one of the following: 1.) Activity goes up as due to the holidays and more players, new and old, have more time to engage in happy funtime RP, or 2.) Activity goes down due to family, traveling, work (especially if you're temping), or school (yes, there are winter-holiday semesters for certain schools out there). These are more of individual circumstances regarding server activity rather than the server itself, though I unfortunately happen to fall into #2. In fact, I tend to have far less free time during vacation than when I have school and work. Huh.
NEVERTHELESS:
Now that I am slapped with a Content GM title like a Bobo doll by a rubber chicken, like said Bobo doll (and rubber chicken), I am otherwise open and available to being punched and slapped around senselessly help assist and improve RP around the server. I have held events in the past, spontaneous and planned, usually with the aim of storytelling or killing boredom and monotony. Or all three. I have heard Player this wants more of this, Player that wants more of that, we need more of this RP, we need less of that. The GMs have tried to vary RP more through whatever RP strengths they would possess, especially in regards to lore. Evil RP. Horde RP. Human/Blood Elf RP. Etc, etc. What are my strengths? Well...
Okay, I'll be outright and frank. I am WoW lore weak. Like. Really lore weak. You know the first time I RPed Kantado? He changed into a bunny, a half-cat, and spoke while shapeshifted. Yeah. I was that bad. Even now I still struggle with lore, though as far as draenei and orcs go, I am a lot stronger than when I first arrived here. Yes, I do research, I do read... but the best way for me to learn anything, from fictional world built lore to social psychology and statistics, I have to learn it firsthand, hands on. If I actually played WC3, or went through all the Night Elf druid quests, then trust me, my lore would get better. But no. I cannot afford that amount of time and effort to research something so vast and complex as Warcraft lore all by myself and with no assistance. My mind is crammed with other things already.
BUT...I would like to believe I do have this for a strength: Managing and leading storylines and events, promoting social RP beyond tavern and combat, spontaneous and improvised mini-events, and in general, RP created specifically for character development. However... as you can see on my Joined date, I first arrived here only half a year ago. I am unsure if I have done enough for this server as far as events and storylines go, or if I'm doing a pretty good job in spite of my short stay.
SO. As your new GM slave, I shall make this blog entry for everyone to answer at their own discretion as you see fit:
1.) What kind of RP do you want to see more of?
2.) What kind of RP do you want to see less?
3.) Are you in higher favor of story-driven RP with lots of combat or more character-centered drama? Or story RP at all? If so, what kind?
4.) How am I doing with <The Love Exchange>? Do you think I'm not doing enough with matchmaking and such? Do you think I should do more with it? Bear in mind that this guild was created for more than just matchmaking RP, but RP centered around love and romance in general without actually being romance RP (if that makes sense).
5.) Are you disturbed, upset, angry, apathetic, etc., about me being lore weak as a GM? I'm trying my best to improve lore weakness, I really am.
6.) Lastly, what are your expectations of me, in general, as a GM? Do you just want me to just be quiet and do my GM duties, do you want me to be the "fun police" where I focus less on stepping on people's toes and have bring more fun, etc.? I've seen how there are some players who like how active and helpful the GM team are but, at the same time, would find them unapproachable and inflexible in regards to what is allowable in RP. I hope to change that, especially since I find it rather unfair.
As for finding me in-game, for those of you who don't know me, I have a ton of characters but only a handful whom I RP regularly. Since <The Love Exchange> is by far the only guild I actively administrate and lead (the other one, <Stormwind Underground>, is only a quasi-guild and an OOC one), you'll most likely find me on as Kapre, my blueberry derpgoat. If not him, then as Mahentosh, my dirty old orc. I have other characters, but they're listed in my forum profile.
That's it for my first blog post! Hope to RP with you again soon!
