I still agree with the original post, sorry Avitz. I'm just too old for you, apparently. :3
I'll elaborate. The second time I RPed Spiligrack, I was approached by an Ebon Blade [old guild] member, who took Spili to one side and basically told him to change his appearance, or he'd die. That's just the kick I needed to start RPing him PROPERLY. I originally showed up, all flashy Runeblade and armour, but that's not how it is. DKs SUMMON their armour for battle, as I was informed. The same is true of their runeblades. Why? Because they have an image to uphold, of being safe to be around. They don't find mass fear to be in their interests and any non-conformers face torture or death for the betterment of the majority.
You aren't supposed to scare normal people. Sure, I know, I do it myself; but not in the same way. Spili is a deserter and takes what he gets for that, it's written into his profile that he doesn't want to join the Blades in Northrend and in fact, that needs to be updated to say he killed a fellow Knight and fled.
Two days ago, when there was essentially a DK convention in Booty Bay, everyone was wearing full armour, with runeblade, except for myself.
The dilemma comes that it was FUN RP, but in order to immerse us better, which I find extremely lacking about here right now [server-wide] shouldn't we be paying attention to the little details? The epic armour is saved for fighting, not drinking in the bar.
So there's my edit, hope it helps.

I think there's a misunderstanding. We're not stopping you guys, we just want you to have a profile. Current death knights probably wouldn't be inhibited.

There was once an Isenthor,
His name was Kallenhad.
He was Human, kinda' old,
A long, blue hair he had.
If you'd remember Isen, see,
He was the one who shared with thee,
The idea of using the Realm of Shadows,
To bring about armor, and not face the gallows.
'Twas he, I think, that told good old Spili
How to summon his Runeblade from black mist so chilly,
As before he did that, the old gnome-bat,
Used to hide both helm and sword under a bridge just like that.
I do quite fondly remember the times,
When the Knights of the Ebon Blade,
Made their peers answer for their crimes,
And helped out the new blood, and to Lore they bade.
But alas, nowadays, this happens no more.
Gone are the Knight-Hunters of yore.
No longer are Renegades hunted, no longer are misfits reformed,
You see, my dear Ben, I think people grew bored.
And now they doth gather,
In Out-of-character,
Instead of achieving an IC consensus,
To wipe those they see unfit, from the census.
Thus, my belief is as stands; A Knight is a Knight,
And all through story-strands, for Player or plight,
Those seen as failing their post should be given a fight.
'Twas not with best of rhymes that I intended,
On having both words and opinions mended,
But you see, it is simply easier,
If it is far cheesier.
And in conclusion, I hop back on the fence,
And apologize if any of this offends.

To attempt to fix everything that's wrong on the server ICly would be madness.

I think that Living DKs should be special profiles, to avoid abuse and make sure that they're RP'd by people who can play them correctly, and to make sure that there is a realistic representation of how many there are.
I'll put my next point in terms of logic. You are a Scourge necromancer, it is the Third War, there are 300 dead corpses of Paladins lying on the ground, and 300 living soldiers still holding on for dear life. You can order your minions to capture the living soldiers, and struggle to bring them back and turn them into Death Knight. You can also just get minions to drag back the 300 dead soldiers, turn them into death knights that will actually be more effective in combat etc.
What do you choose?
There is a reason Death Knight are dead, because that was the easiest way for the Scourge to bolster their forces. I'm not saying living ones are impossible to have, I'm just pointing out that statistically there should be more undead DKs.
As for Dead DKs, I don't think they should be special profiles, for the same reasons everybody else has already stated. So I'll just put ditto marks and not make this post longer than it has to be.

Flammos!, I couldn't remember your name, thanks again for that.
Who wants to make Knight Hunters? For some amusing times.

Yeah. You're welcome.
You shall have my runeblade... as soon as I figure out who I wanna help out on. Also, you're welcome.
And that's what I wanna see. People taking the matter, and doing something about it, instead of complaining. It makes me happy to see that, whether taking IC action or OOC-ly educating people as to the Lore of their chosen Class/Race combo, someone took initiative.

I already volunteered my DK as a rogue-knight hunter.

@Sadros: I believe that most of the living DKs actually were unconscious, as they were transported to the Ebon Hold and made into Death Knights. They might now have been aware of the fact, that they actually were alive.

I can agree fully with making living DKs special profiles.
I'd also enjoy having Taron hunt down some of these rogue Knights.

But...the Ebon Blade don't hunt rogues for one reason. They -are- Rogues. All of them, no Ebon Blade would hunt one who refuses to wear the tabard, many Death Knights ran away during Lights Hope Chapel, some returned to the Lich King, such as Orbaz, some just kept running. You see what people seem to not realise is, the Ebon Blade was made to attack Northrend, they are a force of allied Death Knights with the goal of killing Arthas, once he is dead (lore on the server right now isn't it? I forget the timeline) many of them would return to their Factions to serve, as they have in Cata, with a few staying to slaughter every undead that shows their face.
My point is, the Ebon Blade'd sooner kill a hunter for hunting "rogue DK's" for wasting their time, then devoting valuable man power to such an act that does not bother them. I understand people hunt them for their crimes, but the crimes do not bother the Ebon Blade to begin with.

.... What Jack said. In reality, the Ebons have no reason to hunt "rogue" DKs. Everything I could ever say was just stated by Jack.

I actually do not know if there are "Rogue Death Knights" in lore to be honest.
Quote:"After Arthas' departure, Fordring calls for the union of the Argent Dawn and the Order of the Silver Hand into the Argent Crusade, intended to bring the war to Icecrown itself. Mograine pledges himself and his knights to the same cause, naming his new order the Knights of the Ebon Blade. With their free will restored, Mograine and his death knights return to Acherus and capture it, destroying the Scourge remnants within. With their new base secured, Mograine then sends his knights to rejoin their people, sending them to throw themselves at the mercy of either King Varian Wrynn in Stormwind (if their race belonged to the Alliance) or Warchief Garrosh Hellscream in Orgrimmar (if they belonged to the Horde)."
As far as Lore is concerned, after your Death Knight broke from the Lich King, he/she went on to capture Acherus before throwing themselves at the mercy of their faction. You can be as much of a rogue as any outlaw is, in the regards of not following your faction's laws. I didn't run DK from start to finish though, so I don't know if I'm missing any IG quests tht referance the Ebonblde hunting and killing Death Knights who didn't stand with them to claim Acherus, and it states in lore that you do not have to uphod fealty 100% to the Knights, since Morgraine suggested throwing themselves at the mercy of your faction leader, after all.
On Topic, forcing special profiles for things people may not like is dumb. It's that mentality that breeds lynch-mobs, "vigilantes", crazy gunmen, etc, IRL.
(To clarify, I mean the "I don't like it, so it can't happen/or will need special premission" mentality)
