It seems the MPQ files have been reorganized. I'm not quite sure if it will even be possible to downpatch - you may have to completely reinstall and then patch manually to 3.3.5a.
It does appear that way. I'm wondering if I can reinstall WoW onto my external HD and only patch up to 3.3.5a on there and play via that, while still having retail on my regular HD.

Yeah, I just plain give up. re-installed wow last night. Fell asleep...Woke up to find it AUTOMATICALY downloading the Cataclysm patch...:/ I think I will just reinstall, and buy retail again. -Facedesk-
So, this is becoming a major pain in the butt. I can't manually patch up to a certain point because the patch mirror for one of the really necessary patches gives me a File Not Found error...
Would it be possible to allow the game to patch up to a certain point like it wants to and then make it stop? All you have to do is close the launcher, right?

Yeah. I can see how this is an error, the wow download client takes you to 3.0.1 then it takes you straigh to 4.0.0 with the downloader. which means wow are purposely bypassing he stop at 3.3.5a probally got wise to private servers atm. Manual patching is an option, but as those of you who will have done it know, they often get downloaded, get to 98% for some reason and then have some obscure problem the repair tool cant fix so you just wasted some of your monthly usage. not to mention theres about 19 patches between 3.0.1 and 3.3.5a
I'm having this issue as well. Anyone got any solutions.
