You don't pay to play Mincecraft, you pay to buy it. Therefore it cannot go free to play.

Yes. You actually pay for the final product, since the game is just in beta. While the game is in development, Notch lets paying users play the beta. That's how it works.

I'm sure that if you put on a eyepatch and go "Arr!" you can find stuff on the internet. Plenty of seas with gigs that offer the game, which also allows multiplayer from what I've seen.

Still, I'd recommend buying it, if only for the custom neat in-game avatars.
After all.. No one can defy the cookie monster.

I am currently trying minecraft out with a pirated copy, seeing how there was no trial version, and I'll probably end up buying it, because I'm enjoying it a lot. On the online question, yes, it works. It works on private servers, such as coth. However, you're still using a certain account and if somebody else goes online on your pirated account that everybody uses who downloaded that one torrent, you're kicked out of the game.

Some servers provide a registration and login, and you can change your name when starting up minecraft. Scruffy puppy? :3

It'd be cool if Kretol would open up the server to non premium users.

I was trying to get more civilized the last months and keep my pirating to a minimum... yet, I followed the advise and, yes, the game is addictive! And I have only scratched the surface by making a roomy cave and making some tools and furniture! ^^

Gentlemen! I have discovered the mystery as to why Minecraft is so addicting-ly fun!

Consider this, if you will. To win in Minecraft, all you -have- to do is dig a three block deep hole and cover the top, then sit there...forever. So why is it that we all have huge houses and castles with amazing designs and not just pits? Is the objective of Minecraft not to simply survive? Minecraft is so fun, because it appeals to the natural human instinct that drives us all to want more than simple survival. All of us have a base instinct to go above and beyond, to build and create, to -live- and not just survive. Minecraft requires nothing more than survival, and yet we are all driven by this simplicity to make more and build better things.

There you have it. You now know why you spend ten hours a day sticking blocks of dirt on top of other blocks of dirt on your computer....*Goes off to do just that*

Well there is a problem with that...With that design you would suffocate. Not to mention that in reality...who'd want to live in a dirt hole for the rest of your life? I mean even Bear Grylls can manage to make a pretty neat little hut out off some leaves and branches.
