As I understand it, most of the complaints stem from it being a double-standard, considering our general rules against guild bases. The point of this being that it's an exception, given it's a "base/conquest" that's directly within WoW lore. We just put down a definite point in time for it.
Wouldn't that make GSF-styled fighting for Gnomeregan/establishing a base in the area, and Darkspear Echoes-styled Retaking of the Isles a possibility as well? Apologies for being moderately off-topic about it, but I'm curious...

So long as things follow two-guidelines:
1. It needs to not contradict how things will be in Cataclysm.
2. It needs to not end up glorifying a non-lore guild as a result. This isn't intended to allow guild bases for anyone, save for the lore organizations if they get one in Cata.
Then yes, it would be considered by the GM team if someone wanted to run such an event chain.
It's too bad that we don't have a Cenarion Circle guild. Considering what happens to it in Cata, Desolace is just begging for an event chain...

So in other words people complained about Hearthglen because they they didn't do their Cata homework.
