Every single participant will receive a PM before the event starts with a piece of information about the setting depening on their chosen faction, but applicants who apply before the mentioned date will additionally receive a custom piece for their character. Anyone who wants a good and enjoyable intrigue is warmly encouraged to make use of the "Details" section in the application."

This, essentially.
It's a personalized introduction to the events, tailored for your character (to my best ability).
For entertainment purposes, mainly. And to give out information, if necessary.

Updated the roster again.
And, I'm also going to shorten the date for the intrigues from the 30th to the 15th. That means sign-ups for custom intrigues will be open for another two weeks, which should be long enough. ... Considering the current roster, anyway.

What exactly does an "intrigue" piece entail?
Your stories will always remain...
... as will your valiant hearts.

It's basically how you were kidnapped, or recruited... And, typically you're given some secret information regarding the event. Be it knowledge about a certain person(or people!), about the area, or about Faceless. Could be anything, really.

Yup!
And, about Faceless, for those who don't know...
Faceless is an NPC character that has been a sort of recurring villain throughout the Kidnapped series. She's typically very intimidating and trigger-happy and is not someone you'd be happy to mess with. For all anyone knows, "Faceless" is the head honcho of the operation.
Typically comes in the guise of a heavily armoured Human female.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'll be changing the title of the "Unwilling Kidnappers" (and make the modification for coming applications in the application form - previous applicants don't need to care about this) because I do agree that it sounds a bit strange.
It'll simply be changed as so:
Willing Kidnapper > Kidnapper
Unwilling Kidnapper > Enslaved Guard

Intrigue sign-up closes in one week from today!
So, if you were planning on signing up for an intrigue but haven't yet, just make sure you do so before the week ends.

To be clear, are the enslaved guards in this position for any reason other than that the kidnappers in question decided that they'd be useful guards?
Or is there likely a "better them than me, let me work with you for more privileges" sort of thing going on?

The Kidnappers had nothing to do with the guards being enslaved, actually. The guards were all assigned to help out, collected by slave masters without any particular names (presumably the same people as the ones who hired the Kidnappers, or a group otherwise related to them). Essentially, the enslaved guards are in a position similar to the situation that the victims find themselves in. Except they are forced to keep the victims in line and obey orders in a whole other way.
As for why they're in that position is... well. That's on an individual level. I can tell you that the purpose is highly sadistic in general, heh.

When can we expect getting our Intrigues? When all of them are finished, or when it's closer to the start date?

When they're all finished, really. We'll do our best to get them out as soon as possible, but it'll probably be a few days before the event starts.
