I liked the dark, horror style of Gilneas, but the werewolves took it a bit too far. The trailer was a bit meh, too cheesy for me.
And it does say that only a few of the trade princes turned to the Horde, might only be the ones who were supposed to be sold as slaves, so I'm sure the Cartel and such will remain neutral.
I'm unsure why the Night Elves would accept the Highborne back, but it would be an interesting thing to RP as.
Over all I kind of like it, some of it, I think...
Well obviously you were kidding! No self-respecting CotHian wants warlocks from space!
Also, judging by the epic voice in the trailer, it sounds like they're delaying a Lich King raid until after the next expansion or maybe a major content patch in Cataclysm. "As the fight against the Lich King rages on in the North... etc. etc. DEATHWING WORLD IS HALF DESTROYED RAAAWR!"
I have a feeling that, if/when we patch up to this expansion, there'll be another full restart. I'm thinking this just because it'd be pretty hard for most everything to stay intact ICly, characters would change radically, Guilds would ICly be torn apart or changed because of a change in purpose, etc.
Lich King raid comes out in Q4 this year in patch 3.3.

If not a restart (We've already done a lot to just trash it yet again.) then a time skip maybe 5 years or something. Too early to tell, it'll depend on how they change azeroth. If they completely replace it, we'll -have- to skip/restart. If the normal Azeroth we already have is still hidden in there, we'll be able to move along the story at our own pace and slowly destroy the world IC. >=D

Do we even have a confirmed release date? It could be quite some time until we are legit given the game.
No release date that I know of, I was just making an assumption. XD But yes, Mikain has a good point - Even so, I could see some series of events leading up to its release for CotH that could help with this, even if we don't go the timeskip or restart route.
I would absolutely love to Roleplay in the Cataclysm, to be honest.
That sounds like perfect character progression! I wouldn't support another restart without really good arguements for it, we could always have forum posts showing how our characters changed during the cataclysm - if we even upgrade to it, might be too much work, no emulator might be made or maybe it turns out to be impractical, who know, we'll see in... two years? three?
Edit: Wait, why do we need a timewarp if they don't let old Azeroth remain?
And we could always make our own progression to similar events of the Cataclysm, maybe stuff happens so that the Worgen don't join the Alliance?

My bet as a release date is that they'll first release Icecrown Citadel in, I don't know October/November/December/January? And seeing as how TBC was released in early 2007, WotLK was released late 2008, my guess is it will come somewhere around October next year, perhaps?

If the old map files are not there, how will we explain sudden huge changes to the world overnight? More than just some places are destroyed, the world is completely different.
It sounded like Blizzard is even thinking of a 5 year timeskip or something anyway. Still, there's no release date on this expansion and even when it does eventually come out, we will still be stuck on 3.3 or whatever we're on then for a while after the expansion. Unless, of course, we do a complete restart, which I support Nostra's view on. And I definitely think that whenever and however we upgrade to Cataclysm, Goblins should be neutral!
Stuff Krent likes:
Deathwing
Deathwing killing half the world
Goblins
A FEW new race / class combinations (Mainly human hunters, dwarf mages, etc)
The whole new "Crisis EVERYWHERE!!!!" storyline.
Stuff Krent does not like:
Worgen
Flying Mounts in Azeroth
Worgen
Many of the new race / class combinations (Gnome priests? Tauren Pallies? Draenei Warlocks?!)
Worgen
Death Knights
Worgen Death Knights
Lore bending
aaaaaaaaand Worgen.
Although I do think I'll like this expansion more than WoTLK. I have always thought, and still firmly believe, that Death Knights were the worst thing to add into the game, because they're something that should be very few in number and limited to a small selection of races. Having gnomes and tauren DK's running around as a massive army just kills the whole feel of the Death Knight character. Plus it's pretty limiting as far as RP goes. DO YOU WANT TO BE DARK MYSTERIOUS BROODING AND OBEDIENT OR DARK MYSTERIOUS BROODING AND PSYCHOPATHIC?!
But....
Just randomly throwing Worgen out there as the new race just kinda irks me. It's not really the lore behind them that bothers me, more on how the players will use them. Can already sense a bunch of really bad Underworld RP storylines going on between Blood Elf VAMPIRES and Worgen WEREWOLFS. Not to mention that DID BLIZZARD REALLY NEED TO GIVE FURRIES ANOTHER REASON TO FLOOD THE WORLD?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
Also the trailer is hella cheesey. Big boomy mouth guy tries too damn hard.
Though I like the new initiative on the story. Instead of just the generic "WE NEED TO PWN THE SHIT OUT OF X LORE VILLAIN BEFORE HIS ARMY OF X FIENDS DESTROYS EVERYONE!!!!" storyline they've been pumping out for the past 2 expansions, they've decided to re-shape the world and give an aura of impeding peril. Definitely will lead to some better storylines and make lil 'ol Azeroth not so boring anymore.
No commentary on the new instances / level cap / secondary skill / battlegrounds because I don't play reeeeeeeeeeeetaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllll~
Too optimistic, look at how it went with Starcraft 2, I played that in 2008 on Dreamhack, was a bit unbalanced but not enough to keep it back this long.
I say three more years, at least.
Edit; And we explain it by Deathwing or whomever destroying the world, I'm sure we can act out those events or do like we did with Wrath Gate and Battle for Undercity.
... Oh, Timewarp.

Nostra I am 100% behind you on the no-restart thing! And yeah! It'd give us alllll something to do while the server is going up to another expansion as it took... How long last time? A week and a half?
Quote:Many of the new race / class combinations (Gnome priests? Tauren Pallies? Draenei Warlocks?!)
Draenei Warlocks was actually a joke by us. They're not adding any new classes for the Spacegoats, fortunately.
