Conquest of the Horde

Mingle

A subtle breeze rushes passed your skin as you approach the collection of elven buildings, Magisters, Nobles and other elves begin heading towards the same direction exiting elaborate carriages pulled by well groomed hawkstriders. Groups of elves are seen conversing amongst themselves along the streets. Those looking for them would notice the many guards in the area. The golden rolling light from the sun warms you as you head to the gate. Here you can see a mixture of horde races having their invitations checked and coats taken. The harmonious melodies of arcane instruments come from beyond the gate, you can also see actual musicians on a stage with a podium. You are greeted by two elves in front of the gate which consists of golden vertical rods crossed with two horizontal rods at the base and a foot from the pointed top. The male armored elf takes your invitation, speaking in Thalassaian if you are not a Sin'dorei the female beside him politely translates.

"Welcome, we can check your cloaks and coats once you are through the gates behind us. Refreshments are out, and the staff is ready to take your orders. Nova Zariel's family is still on their way so enjoy yourselves until then. An usher will take you to your seat as well, and thank you for joining us during this wonderful occasion for Lord Thalion and House Novalight."

Through the gate on a large platform raised by three steps in the shape of a crescent, rests the tables with red and yellow centerpieces. An usher walks you to the steps, you see behind the outer curve of the platform rests a large buffet line with elves prepared to serve you. Within the crescent rested a frozen pond covered in powder to add grit. Some couples have already began dancing, and smiling while others mingle awaiting the Novalights. The Ice is tested by a few orcs to support their weight. It does! North of the pond is where the bar is located, a few patrons are seen there ordering drinks as others gravitate towards the location. Conversation seems to be stirring the most there.

The male bartender wipes down the dark wood bar with a wet rag. There is a canopy tent set up over the area to keep the patrons in the shade. A large glass display of many different liquors run parallel to the length of the long bar. A few people sit calmly at the bar spaced apart as more enter the courtyard for the inauguration. An elf begins smoking a hand rolled cigarette as he drinks ale from his mug.

Behind the canvas covers of the tent hides one of the many servants of House Novalight. She forces a fingers beneath the constricting collar and tugs at the taught hems of her garment. What wicked magic has been put on this gown?, the handmaiden thought to herself while gasping for a proper breath. Only nobles would think of sewing clothes this impossibly tight and enchant them to not actually strangle you... A loud snap is followed by a muffled groan of pain through clenched teeth, she lowers her shoulders and head in defeat to her clothes, a gift from her masters'.

Beless tugs at imaginary strings attached to the corners of her mouth, pulling them apart to form a level and horizontal mirage of a courteous smile. Then she nimbly flips the wall of the tent and spins beneath it to end up beside her colleagues attending the bar. In silence, she allows her gaze to pass over the guests, taking note of their faces and demeanor.

"Have there been any word from the family?" she asks in a soft but determined tone to the other female servant.

A blonde elf tends the bar alongside the male, her wavy hair rests just above her bust which is only inches above the bar counter top. She is also donned in an uncomfortable dress pacing back and forth checking supplies. She slides a chilled glass of wine to the smoking elf, as Beless enters. Even though she remains stiff in such a constricting dress, she tightens up more. She attempts to look busy even though she already has much to do. Beless is kind, but respected among the family. I better not mess up the woman thinks as she continues preparing for the people entering the courtyard. The subtle music is removed from her mind as Beless speaks. She jumps a bit.

"Oh! I just heard Lord Thalion will be arriving shortly. Lady Alteryia is here, and a few others, but still no word from Nova Zariel. Most of the Elders will be arriving momentarily."

TB

"She is?" the handmaiden blurts out with a certain lack of self-control. For a moment her expression changes to display the discomfort of being trapped in her simple but colourful gown. How can magistrix Naveria and lady Cerice survive in these?, she pondered to herself while trying to plaster a new and more pleasant grimace on her face. I feel as if I'm being swallowed by a young dragonhawk. If push comes to shove I'll just have to cut myself out of it, it would be for the good of my masters' in the end. Her muscles tense and fights the leather and cloth in a pointless contest, an attempt to become more at ease within its limits.

With renewed gaze in her poise, the elf peers out across the gatherings of guests, looking for the aforementioned noble sister of the elf at the center of the world this day. Her keen eyes also centers upon other members of the elven nobility, taking a special interest to any member of House Sunfire. Beless lingers around the bar to hear the reply of the other female servant. Meanwhile she retrieves a small silver platter with smooth hemispherical dents evenly spaced into its metallic surface.

Spoiler:

A trio of elves arrive through the front gates of the party.
"Why are we here, Kyrenath?" The short woman of the three asks.
The silver haired elf frowns, but the other responds before him. "I believe he already explained to us on the way here, Adaelyn."
Adaelyn rolls her eyes, looking towards the pond. Without another word, the woman leaves for the frozen dance floor. The trio, now a duo, watch her walk away.
"Do you think she's going to be angry at us the whole time, Quelithe?" Kyrenath asks.
Quelithe adjusts the tie of the tuxedo. "Don't worry about her. I think you should worry about yourself to be honest." Sighing, Quelithe removes the tie, handing it over to Kyrenath. "I'm going to head over to the bar. Go hold us a fort."
The man frowns, stuffing the tie into his pocket as Quelithe heads to the bar area. "Thanks..." He mumbles, looking for a table.

Adaelyn stands before the frozen pond, seeming out of place being alone. She doesn't attempt to step on the ice, only looking at the people who are mingling or dancing there.

Quelithe arrives at the bar, taking the nearest empty seat there is. The tall elf waves for service from one of the bartenders.

Kyrenath takes a deep breath, searching for a table. He manages to spot an empty table in the far back, away from the long table and the stage. He takes a seat, slumping down in the chair. "This was a teribble idea.."
