Tavren frequently orders either a steaming cold cup of honeymint tea or some hot cider.
Who was it who requested his most expensive non-alcoholic beverage?
I think this happens with most tavern owners. When I ran the Crew's bar on Jean, people would ask for the usual and I wouldn't ever know. Why should I remember? And how is that easier than saying what you want?

It evokes a sense of familiarty and homeyness. It's not just about easiness.

...That was Tavren. The GM proffered through Nixx the aforementioned Honeymint, a Northrend import.

Perhaps brewed only by Tuskarr.

I don't believe the Warlock's ever asked for a usual from any bar except the Slaughtered Lamb, and he ICly went there for a decade or two.

Albeit, he ain't going anymore due to legal technicalities on the matter and how he'll probably die if he steps foot in Stormwind.

Yes. [achievement]3005[/achievement].
I have a group of friends who frequent the same bar. We pay to enter, we sit down, waitress brings us our drinks before we can even order. I worked at an Arby's for about 3 months. After about 2 weeks the frequent patrons entered and I was keying in their orders before they even approached and very rarely did they ever change. Most people get in a sort of groove and will continuously order the same thing. It isn't hard to remember at all. I work as a receiver in a warehouse and I can key in several invoices without looking at the UPCs and just looking at the quantities now because I have done it so much. It becomes a lot less about memory and much more about letting your subconscious take over because of habit. We humans learn and remember a lot more than we realize.

Exactly. Calculate that it'll take you three seconds to say "My usual, Nixxy." And it'll take you two seconds to say "Dalaran Red" one second for "Rum/Ale". Meh.
Not to get off topic, but regarding memory, its not uncommon to see waiters in Manhattan (small cafes, diners, etc. ) taking several people's orders at a time without writing them down. I remember walking in to a Subway (sandwich shop) once and seeing someone behind the counter taking about 7 or so orders at a time - again, without writing them down. I've always been impressed with this simple feat of memory.

As for Randian, his usual used to be a half a glass or less of dalaran white or port wine in a clean glass free of streak and lip prints. Lately however, its been a mug of mead with no noticeable concern for cleanliness.
Go somewhere enough times, get to know the bartender, and they'll eventually know your 'usual'.

Though it's still a dick move to request 'the usual'.

Again, it's not just about what's easy.
I'll have my usual cup of pixels, high-res textures, and vertices served in an elaborate description, Nixx.
You're all ruining possible film noir moments. Film noir!!

So is Anski's avatar from Hark! A Vagrant or from the elegant and pornographic stylings of Jess Fink?
That question is entirely on topic because we're at the bar with Nixx, who's serving us all with his psychic powers.
What interests me even more is the huuge stock of beverages Nixx seems to have. Honestly who would expect anyone to sell Dalaran red or Northrend imported honeymint tea in a lowly pirate backwater?
