Here's a step-by-step guide:
-Download WoW from the WOTLK installer download.
-It should be at version 3.0.0.
-Download each patch for it MANUALLY from fileplanet. Fileplanet has every patch in order from 3.0.0 to 4.0.1.
-Move each patch when you've finished downloading them into your WoW Folder.
-run the EXE for each patch. After you do this, the launcher should appear.
-I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Turn off the launcher each time it pops up after you patch! It will patch to 4.0.1 and you'll have to re-download from the installer on this site.
-After you go through all the patches to 3.5.5a, run the WoW.exe in your WoW folder to login to COTH.
-If you also want toplay retail, copy your WoW folder to a different location, renaming it something like "COTH folder"
-Run the launcher from the original WoW folder, letting it patch.
Now you should have two perfectly working WoW folders, one for COTH and one for retail.
