Well, on my neutral character Lodur, doing -anything- evil has a lot of consequences that immediately crop up and cause a lot of issues which foul up any future plans.
Now he's neutral, not baby-seal-leather-boot wearing evil, and hasn't been sitting around trying to slay the world or do anything terribly stupid as of late. Although from his two encounters, he is now completely shut out of Booty Bay(possibly), Rachet (completely), and most likely more areas with six people who will kill me if they happen to find me. No idea if they're actively tracking me, but I've heard they're somewhat after me.
This is after killing a single person. Now my character isn't evil and the murder was supported by his character, but he has a serious hindrance on all his plans for the near future and has a real good chance to be dead rather soon. Although he was able to stay in town for most of the night, even interacting with most people to some extent, without being beaten to death with his own health bar.
The issue, as others have raised probably in much better ways than I can, is that good just has -so- much stacked in its favor that evil is pretty much out of luck once it's in the open. As Lodur so aptly understands, being quiet is the key to being successful at doing anything evil. When that fails, lie and spin your own reality around yourself that says you are the good guys! First ambush, I walked free. Second, I got away after sticking around a bit and live with my heart full of neutrality in tact. I couldn't lie my way out of that, so laying low for a while might help.
Just with guards, six people (eight including the soon to be resurrected Dael and Reigen) after me, and a whatever else might be thrown my way, the future is looking grim.
Evil has to be covert, or has to have enough power to destroy anything that stands up against it. To keep everything covert, you also need power, cunning, and a heck of a lot of luck on your side. One person gets away, one thing slips through the cracks, one plan goes awry and suddenly everyone is staring right at you, readying their weapons.
Gotta be smart, lay low, have plenty of back up plans, and try and have enough power to kill or silence everyone who stumbles upon your operation.

Well, as I've learned, I'm not being shut out of Rachet or Booty Bay or anything. Even still, laying low is a good idea, don't wanna be tracked down and brought to justice.
